World Book Day at Newton Abbot Library

Pupils from All Saints Marsh, C of E Academy, part of the Learning Academy Trust celebrated World Book Day in style this year with a visit to Newton Abbot Library.

Pupils from the ‘small school with a BIG heart’ dressed up as their favourite and most inspirational book characters..from Cat in the Hat to the Gruffalo and lots more in between! To celebrate their love of reading, the pupils enjoyed a story being read to them by staff at the library, had a tour of the library and participated in book inspired arts and crafts.

We would like to say thank you to the staff at the library for making such a memorable day.

Each child took home a book voucher enabling them to choose from a wonderful selection of books that will spark children’s interest from their local bookshop.

Mr Liam O’Sullivan, Head Teacher said…

“There was a wonderful buzz around the school as the children came in and admired each other’s World Book Day outfits. Laughter filled the classrooms as they tried to guess who their friends were, and children enjoyed sharing their favourite stories with each other. We then shared our love of reading with Newton Abbot Library, where the children enjoyed creating their own settings from books, designing their own bookmarks, sharing a story and completing a scavenger hunt using story characters as clues! The children came back inspired, keen to explore new books and some even starting their own stories…watch this space!”

“I loved creating my own story setting using the Lego!”  Year 2 child.

2It was the best day ever” Year 2 child

“I never knew there were so many books in Newton Abbot Library”  Year 6 child.

“I’ve added at least 3 books to me reading list” Year 5 child

“I want to come back again and bring my brother and sister”. Year 1 child.
