CORONATION CELEBRATIONS AND CAKE

CORONATION CELEBRATIONS AND CAKE AT ALL SAINTS MARSH C OF E ACADEMY

The children at All Saints Marsh Church of England Academy, part of the Learning Academy Partnership (LAP), celebrated the King’s Coronation in style.

The academy hosted its first ‘Coronation Bake-Off’, inviting friends and families to bake and decorate cakes, cupcakes and other sweet goodies in coronation style. The event was supported by Reverend Gareth Regan and judged by Local Governance Chair Mrs Forsyth, as well as Headteacher Mrs Evie Semmens. The competition was stiff, with nearly 30 entries – impressive for such a small school – with the winners being awarded certificates. All the entries demonstrated our academy’s value of ‘Creativity’ with cakes such as red velvet, chocolate caramel sponges, blondie-brownies and much, much more.

Parents, friends and families were invited to a garden party were held in the playground. The children and staff were dressed up wearing the best dresses and outfits, fit for a King. The children performed and sang ‘The New King’, and took part in Coronation style celebration activities including ‘Pin the Tail on the Corgi’, ‘Pin the Jewel on the Crown’, treasure hunts and lots more. Pupils loved getting crafty and creative, with everyone making their own crown to wear during the celebrations.

The small academy with a big heart raised over £100 for its Parent, Teacher Friend Association (PTFA) which supports the children by helping to fund local trips, activities, resources and leavers’ gifts.

Evie Semmens, Interim Headteacher at All Saints March Church of England Academy, said:

“I’m so incredibly proud of the whole community for coming together in such a tremendous way with our Coronation Party. The children’s outfits, costumes and cakes really show how much the whole community love celebrating together. This coronation is a momentous occasion which the children have learned a great deal about already in their History lessons and our Acts of Worship.  The memories created by the events at school will, we hope, last them a lifetime; all part of our LAP Trust Vision to create ‘Flourishing Futures’.
