Sharing Our Love of Reading

The children at All Saints Marsh C of E Academy, who are part of the Learning Academy Partnership (LAP) revealed their brand new library in the Summer term last year to the their local MP, Anne Marrie Morris to the grand opening. In the spirit of compassion and shared learning, the previous books that once filled the school library were donated to a school in a small town in Zimbabwe. The children of Lwendulu Primary School were delighted to receive such a vast amount of books, helping them to kickstart a brand new library in their school.

Highly appreciative and full of gratitude, the headteacher of Lwendulu Primary School, Mrs P. Sikale, stated, “The books have been a great tool in helping our pupils to learn English and they are also encouraging our children to read for pleasure because of the variety we now have!”

All this was made possible by Mrs Babbage (a former year 6 teacher at All Saints Marsh) and her family who organised the books to be shipped to the well-deserved school in Southern African. ”My family and I were delighted to distribute these valuable resources to a place where they were needed the most. Each book will make a difference in the children’s education!” mentioned Mrs Babbage.

Miss Watson, Trust English Lead, said, “This is a wonderful example of the power of sharing a story. We are delighted that the children from Lwendulu Primary School can enjoy the books which we have loved reading at All Saints Marsh.”
