The children at All Saints Marsh C of E Academy have had a great start to the Summer Term. The sun has been shining and there were smiles all around the school all week long, especially on Monday the 14 of June 2021. We were delighted to welcome Bemma who ran an African arts project virtually. The children were introduced to various aspects of the African culture through experiencing delightful tales and village songs that brought a glimpse of life and culture in other parts of the world. We all had a go at repeating chants and participating in a ‘call and response’ song. Through listening to some interesting facts about the continent, we got to see life through someone else’s eyes, which opened our minds to the world beyond our community.
To top that off, the children were treated to a marvellous art day by The Helen Foundation and DAISI who beautifully provided one of their professional artists to engage and inspire each of them to think like artists. Our lucky children received the wonderful opportunity to produce artwork using compressed black charcoal and white chalk. Before creating their masterpieces, the children practised their shading skills and perfected each stroke before moving on to making creative outcomes that involved pastels and observational drawings. The inspiring artist, Monica, Shanta, Brown, encouraged the pupils to look for specific details and to accurately represent shadows and lights for each object. We are proud of all classes for showing such great skill and for engaging with their creative sides, and we can all definitely agree that they all did a wonderful job. A great thank you goes out to The Helen Foundation and DAISI once more. We look forward to more inspiring art sessions in future.
